Ashbridge's Bay, Natural bay in Toronto, Canada

Ashbridge's Bay is a waterfront area in Toronto extending along Lake Shore Boulevard beside Woodbine Beach with a 3-kilometer boardwalk. The site features the Martin Goodman Trail and numerous recreational facilities including volleyball courts, soccer fields, and a skateboard park.

The bay takes its name from Sarah Ashbridge, a British loyalist from Philadelphia who settled in the region. Originally a marsh covering the Don River delta, the area was transformed through land reclamation in 1912.

The waterfront draws swimmers, sailors, and sports enthusiasts who gather here regularly for recreation and socializing. Locals use the promenades and green spaces as natural gathering spots where community life unfolds throughout the year.

The boardwalk and recreational areas are freely accessible year-round and easily reached from downtown Toronto. Summer months offer the best conditions for outdoor activities, while winter visits reveal quieter surroundings ideal for walking and observation.

The 1912 reclamation project was one of North America's largest engineering efforts of that era, fundamentally reshaping the landscape. Today visitors walk on land that was once water, experiencing the result of this enormous transformation firsthand.
