Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, Marine amusement park in Hengqin, China
Chimelong Ocean Kingdom is an amusement park in Hengqin, China, combining marine aquariums with rides across eight themed zones. The complex spreads across a large site with pathways leading from areas housing seals and penguins to roller coasters and water rides.
Construction began in November 2010 and led to the opening in March 2014 after several years of planning and building. The park emerged as part of a larger project to develop Hengqin Island into a tourism and leisure zone.
The park name reflects a blend of circus tradition and marine life, visible in the whale sculptures that serve as entrance gates. Families often treat the park as a multi-day destination, combining the visit with nearby hotels and restaurants in Hengqin.
Access is through Zhuhai Changlong station, which connects to the intercity rail system serving Zhuhai Airport. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and plan for long walks between different zones.
The aquarium system ranks among the largest globally and houses whale sharks and belugas in tanks viewable through acrylic panels. The facility holds several world records, including for the size of water volumes and glass surfaces.
