Macao Giant Panda Pavilion, Zoo facility in Seac Pai Van Park, Coloane, Macau.
The Macao Giant Panda Pavilion is a facility in Seac Pai Van Park featuring specially designed indoor and outdoor spaces for the animals. Elevated pathways offer different viewing angles throughout the space, allowing visitors to observe the pandas in multiple settings.
The facility received its first pair of pandas, Kai Kai and Xin Xin, as a gift from China marking Macau's 15th anniversary of return. These animals shaped the early story of the pavilion and made it a symbol of cooperation between the two regions.
The pavilion's design echoes a traditional Chinese fan shape, reflecting how the space honors both architectural heritage and conservation efforts. This design choice shows the importance placed on connecting visitors to the natural world while respecting local building traditions.
The pavilion opens Tuesday through Sunday with multiple visiting windows throughout the day. The area is fairly easy to reach on foot and the park offers plenty of space to walk around and explore different sections.
The pavilion houses twin pandas Jian Jian and Kang Kang, born in 2016, alongside their parents in specially controlled temperature spaces. This multi-generational group shows successful breeding efforts and gives visitors a rare chance to see the family together.
