Angerpark

Angerpark is a large park in Duisburg with a varied landscape of open spaces and wooded areas connected by walking paths. The site includes a viewpoint elevated on a hill that overlooks the surrounding southern parts of the city.

The site was once a zinc factory that required significant cleanup and remediation after closing before it could become a public space. The transformation was completed in the early 2000s, converting industrial land into a recreational area for the city.

The park takes its name from a former local settlement and serves visitors as a place for walking, cycling, and outdoor gatherings today. Different planting zones create distinct areas throughout the grounds, each offering different vegetation experiences.

The park offers walking and cycling routes that are accessible and easy to navigate throughout the grounds. The terrain is hilly in places, which can affect how long a visit takes, but paths are well-marked and suitable for most visitors.

A striking steel sculpture resembling an ascending tiger with illuminated handrails stands on the hilltop, creating an unexpected artistic highlight in the natural setting. This installation becomes particularly eye-catching at night when the LED lights activate along its edges.
