Big Loop, Steel roller coaster in Heide Park, Soltau, Germany
Big Loop is a steel roller coaster at Heide Park with a white track supported by green columns running through the park. The ride takes passengers through two vertical loops and two consecutive corkscrews as core elements of its layout.
The ride opened in 1983 as the park's first roller coaster, originally using trains made by Arrow Dynamics. A redesign in 2010 replaced these with newer Vekoma trains, updating its operation.
The roller coaster design mirrors the Dragon Fyre at Canada's Wonderland, representing an international connection between German and North American theme parks.
Each train has six cars arranged in two rows, holding 24 passengers per ride. The ride processes around 1200 people per hour and reaches a top speed of 63 kilometers per hour.
The ride starts with a chain lift hill climbing 30 meters before the trains descend into the loops. After the two loops, a mid-course brake section slows the trains before they complete a final helix turn.
