Scream, Drop tower at Heide Park, Soltau, Germany
Scream is a drop tower at Heide Park that stands 103 meters tall and holds up to 40 riders on a rotating platform. The steel structure releases passengers from a height of 71 meters while the cabin spins during the descent.
The attraction was built by Intamin between October 2002 and April 2003, replacing an earlier observation tower on the same site. The former structure was converted into a ride that opened in spring 2003.
German engineering excellence manifests in this technical marvel, which demonstrates the country's commitment to advanced amusement park experiences.
Visitors should be between 130 centimeters (4.3 feet) and 195 centimeters (6.4 feet) tall to ride. The complete cycle lasts about a minute and a half and reaches speeds near 100 kilometers per hour (62 miles per hour).
The actual free fall lasts only two seconds, followed by more than five seconds of controlled braking. The cabin rotates throughout the entire sequence, constantly changing what riders see.
