Flug der Dämonen, Wing roller coaster at Heide Park, Germany
Flug der Dämonen is a wing coaster at Heide Park near Soltau, carrying passengers at 100 kilometers per hour (62 miles per hour) along a 772-meter (2,533-foot) steel track. The seats sit on either side of the rail so legs dangle freely, and the route includes eight flight maneuvers with multiple inversions and twists.
The roller coaster opened on March 29, 2014, replacing the former Wildwasserbahn 2 attraction that was removed during the 2012 season. Construction took place over several months and transformed the entire site at this section of the park.
The trains carry demonic faces at the front, created by graffiti artist Markus Genesius, giving the experience a dark mythology. These sculpted train elements draw photographers and guests alike, who take pictures of the detailed figures before departure.
Riders must measure between 140 and 195 centimeters (4 feet 7 inches and 6 feet 5 inches) tall to board, as the open seating layout requires specific safety restraints. Those sensitive to spinning or upside-down positions should be aware the route includes multiple inversions.
The station building resembles an old church with lanterns hanging from the ceiling and the ride logo burned into the wooden roof beams. This design creates a contrast with the modern steel structure outside and reinforces the dark theme of the experience.
