Werner-Alfred-Bad

Werner-Alfred-Bad is an indoor swimming pool with an oval basin covering about 216 square meters in an early 20th century architectural style. The building contains facilities for swimming and health-related activities with period design details throughout.

Built in 1913 by architect Paul Otto August Baumgarten, the facility came into being through the bequest of a mother honoring her son. Following major renovations in 2009, it was transformed into a modern health center.

The facility takes its name from a young man whose mother donated it to the city as a lasting gift. Visitors can see how personal generosity shaped public spaces that serve the community.

The facility is accessible and offers programs including physiotherapy, ergotherapy, and water-based exercise throughout the year. Visitors should know that it functions as an active health center rather than purely a recreational swimming venue.

A charming 1915 pavilion stands beside the main building, once serving as a water station where visitors could rest on high-backed benches. This small structure reveals how swimming facilities historically served as places for relaxation and social gathering.
