Description
The Neuer Leuchtturm Wangerooge is a navigation aid made of concrete on the northern coast of Wangerooge island. The red structure stands approximately 67 meters tall and emits a rhythmic light signal to guide ships safely through the waterways.
History
This tower was constructed between 1966 and 1969 to replace an older lighthouse dating back to 1856 that could no longer meet modern navigation requirements. The new structure represented advances in post-war engineering and lighthouse design.
