Mahmoud Said Museums Center

The Mahmoud Said Museums Center is an art museum in Alexandria housed in a former Italian-style residence displaying more than 40 paintings. The collection spans portraits, landscapes, and studies of Egyptian life across three separate exhibition sections featuring the artist and other Egyptian creators.

The building once belonged to Mahmoud Said, son of Prime Minister Mohamed Said Pasha, who initially worked as a judge before turning to art. From 1947 onward, he pursued his artistic career and gathered significant works by Egyptian artists.

The collection features female portraits and nudes that reveal the artistic tension between traditional Egyptian values and modern creative expression. These works offer visitors insight into how artists navigated different perspectives on depicting the human form.

Several paintings from the collection have achieved notable prices on the international art market and appear in European auction houses. This makes the museum a place where visitors can encounter artworks of worldwide artistic significance.
