Stanley Bridge, Road bridge in Stanley District, Alexandria, Egypt
Stanley Bridge is a road bridge in the Stanley District of Alexandria, Egypt, that extends 400 meters (about 1312 feet) along the Mediterranean coastline. The construction is 21 meters (about 69 feet) wide and displays Renaissance Revival elements in its architectural design.
Arab Contractors Company built the bridge as part of the Corniche expansion project in Alexandria. Governor Abdel Salam El-Mahgoub opened the structure on September 2, 2001.
Local residents use the viewing platforms during warm evenings for walks and seaside leisure. Many people recognize the structure from popular Egyptian films such as 'Sayeh Bahr'.
The bridge eased traffic along the Corniche road and connects pedestrians to landmarks such as Spahi Palace. The Maritime Museum is also nearby and reachable on foot.
The construction was the first bridge built over any of Alexandria's 28 bays. The viewing platforms extend directly over the Mediterranean Sea.
