Playa de San Juan

Playa de San Juan is a beach spanning over 3 kilometers of golden sand that stretches along the Mediterranean coastline in Alicante. A palm-lined promenade runs parallel to the shore, providing a paved walkway between the water and the city behind it.

The beach was once a quiet natural coastal area that underwent major development during the 1960s tourism boom in Spain. This transformation changed it from a simple fishing village shoreline into the modern recreational destination it is today.

The beach has become a central meeting place where locals and visitors naturally gather to experience Mediterranean coastal life together. Throughout the day, the various beach bars and restaurants create social spaces where people linger over meals and watch the sea.

Showers, changing facilities, and lifeguard stations are spread throughout the beach, with most services readily available during summer months. You can easily access these amenities by walking from any point along the shore.

The water here remains relatively warm throughout the summer months, offering comfortable swimming conditions for an extended period. This makes it a pleasant place to swim for much longer than many other European beaches allow.
