Le Planay, Ski resort in Beaufort, France
Le Planay is a ski resort in the French Alps stretching from 1080 to 2320 meters (3543 to 7612 feet) in altitude across varied terrain. The resort operates 15 drag lifts, 4 chair lifts, and 2 cable cars to access the slopes.
This resort developed as an extension of the Areches winter sports area, building upon the region's existing ski infrastructure. Its growth was part of the broader expansion of Alpine tourism in the French mountains.
Local restaurants serve traditional Savoyard dishes made with regional cheeses and mountain ingredients prepared according to Alpine traditions passed down through generations. The food reflects how people have lived and eaten in these mountains for centuries.
The resort welcomes visitors during the winter season from December through April, with convenient access points from nearby airports. Direct transfers are available from Chambery and Geneva airports for ski trips.
The resort has separate beginner slopes away from main runs where newcomers can practice safely without mixing with experienced skiers. These dedicated areas let new visitors build confidence before moving to busier terrain.
