Aiken Barracks is a military facility in Dundalk near Parliament Square featuring multiple buildings for operational functions and training of soldiers. The complex includes spaces for physical training, tactical exercises, and administrative work for military personnel.
The barracks was founded after the 1798 Irish Rebellion on the site of a former linen mill. It was named in honor of Frank Aiken, an Irish republican military commander.

The barracks is located in central Dundalk and easy to reach with clear signage for visitors. Plan your visit in advance since the facility is normally open to the public only on certain days or during special events.
In August 1922 a major incident occurred here during the Irish Civil War when 300 republican prisoners were freed from custody. The event also resulted in the capture of about 400 rifles, making it a significant military action of that period.
