Fukuma Station, railway station in Fukutsu, Fukuoka prefecture, Japan
Fukuma Station is an above-ground railway station in Fukutsu, built over the tracks of the Kagoshima Main Line. The building connects a side platform with two island platforms and has a ticket office, with trains running toward Hakata, Kurume, and other stops along the line.
The station opened on September 28, 1890, as part of the rail network built by Kyushu Railway. The Japanese government took over the line in 1907, and operations passed to JR Kyushu in 1987.
Fukuma Station serves as a meeting point where residents and travelers connect daily in their routines. The station building sits naturally within local life, with staff greeting passengers warmly and community members using the space as part of their regular trips to work, school, or destinations beyond the town.
Signs are in both Japanese and English, and ticket machines along with waiting benches are available on the platforms. The open layout of the station makes it easy to find your way around, even on a first visit.
The station is set up as an overtaking station, meaning faster trains can pass slower ones using the island platforms. This is easy to notice when watching train movements during busier times of day.
