Takehara Kofun, Decorated tomb in Miyawaka, Japan
The circular burial mound measures 17.5 meters in diameter and contains a stone chamber with multiple rooms connected by horizontal passages.
The tomb dates back to the late 6th century and received national historic site status in February 1957 after its discovery in March 1956.
The chamber walls display approximately ten different images in red and black pigments, including horses, dragons, vermilion birds, and human figures.
The tomb opens daily from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM except Mondays, with admission fees of 220 yen for adults and reduced rates for students.
The burial site revealed horse-related artifacts and equipment, indicating the deceased person maintained significant connections to horsemanship.
