Ōmori, Residential district in Ota, Japan
Ōmori is a residential neighborhood on the eastern side of Ota ward, shaped by the Keihin-Tōhoku railway line that runs near Tokyo Bay. The area combines housing with parks and local shops into a typical Tokyo residential setting.
The area began as a fishing village along the historic Tōkaidō road before merging with Kamata district in 1947. This union created the current structure of Ota ward.
The district maintains several parks, including the extensive Heiwa-no-mori Park spanning 99,000 square meters with sports facilities and recreational spaces.
Ōmori Station offers direct train connections to major Tokyo destinations through the JR Keihin-Tōhoku Line. The station sits among residential streets and shops that are easily reached on foot.
An archaeological shell mound site was discovered here in the 19th century when a Western scholar happened to pass through by train. This find provided important clues about early settlements in the region.
