Established in 1857 as Japan's first warship repair facility under the name Nagasaki Yotetsusho Foundry, Mitsubishi acquired the shipyard from the government in 1884.
The shipyard represents Japan's industrial transformation during the Meiji period, marking the country's entry into modern naval and maritime manufacturing.
The Koyagi Plant operates with a 1,000-meter building dock specialized in manufacturing LNG carriers and commercial vessels for international clients.
The facility maintains production capabilities for space equipment, including attitude control systems for rockets and satellites at its Isahaya Plant location.
