Kitano-Hakubaichō Station, railway station in Kyoto, Kyoto prefecture, Japan
Kitano-Hakubaichō Station is an aboveground terminus on the Kitano Line in Kyoto, operated by Keifuku Electric Railroad. It features three platforms and two tracks, with station code B9 and ground-level accessibility for passengers.
The railway line between Kitano and Takaoguchi opened in 1925 and was extended in 1943 to create Kitano-Hakubaichō Station. After Kyoto City Trams took over operations in 1958, it became the terminal station of the line, a role it maintains today.
The station sits near the renowned Kitano Tenmangu Shrine and serves as a natural starting point for visitors heading to traditional sites in the area. Over the decades, the neighborhood has grown as a local gathering place where residents and travelers meet before exploring temples, schools, and small shops.
The station is at ground level with access ramps installed, making it easy for passengers with mobility needs. A nearby bus stop provides additional connections to other city areas and facilitates transfers between different modes of transport.
The station underwent significant renovation between 2019 and 2021, improving access routes and connections to the nearby bus stop. These modern improvements preserved the location's historical simplicity while making daily travel easier for residents and visitors.
