Heidi's Village, Botanical garden and theme park in Hokuto, Japan
Heidi's Village is a botanical garden and theme park in Hokuto featuring over 7000 rose bushes that form one of Japan's longest rose corridors alongside 250,000 tulips arranged in panoramic flowerbeds. The grounds combine Swiss-style buildings with Japanese garden design across a large landscaped area.
The site opened in 2006 as a botanical center from the start, incorporating Swiss architectural elements and design features inspired by the Heidi story. This blend of influences shaped the overall concept and look of the garden from its beginning.
The village combines Swiss-style buildings with Japanese garden design, creating a blend of two different traditions in one space. Seasonal flower shows and traditional farming methods reflect how the place connects Alpine culture with local gardening practices.
The location sits about 20 minutes by taxi from JR Nirasaki Station and offers parking for 400 vehicles on site. The entire garden is wheelchair accessible, making it easy for visitors with mobility needs to move through the grounds.
From its elevated position, visitors can see Mount Fuji, the Southern Alps, and Mount Yatsugatake while exploring different themed garden areas. This view connects the flowers in front with dramatic mountain landscapes stretching behind them.
