Jiunji, Buddhist temple in Koshu, Japan
The temple buildings at Jiunji feature traditional wooden structures with carved details and incorporate gardens set against mountain backdrops.
The temple, established by monk Mumon Kokushi during the Edo period, became a center for regional education and Buddhist learning.
The temple maintains Buddhist ceremonies throughout the year and includes meditation sessions guided by resident monks for visitors.
Located 10 minutes by taxi from Enzan Station, Jiunji provides parking spaces for 50 vehicles and opens daily from 9 AM to 5 PM.
The temple grounds contain a 300-year-old cherry tree designated as a natural monument by Yamanashi Prefecture and a literary monument to Higuchi Ichiyo.
