Former Ozawa Family Residence

The Former Ozawa Family Residence contains both living quarters and a commercial space, featuring traditional wooden architecture with tatami flooring throughout the structure.

During the late 19th century, the Ozawa family operated multiple businesses from this location, including transportation, storage services, and wholesale rice trade in Niigata.

The residence includes specific areas for tea ceremonies, with a traditional hearth and large windows that provide views of the Japanese garden design.

Visitors can access the residence from 9:30 am to 5 pm, with admission fees of 200 yen for adults and 100 yen for children on weekdays.

The building features an unagi no nedoko hallway design, purposefully constructed narrow to minimize taxation during the Edo period.
