Honzan-ji, Buddhist temple in Takatsuki, Japan.
The temple complex occupies a mountain location with multiple halls, including the main building that contains the principal statue of Bishamonten.
Founded in 697 by En no Gyoja, Prince Kaijo established formal temple structures during the Nara period in the late 8th century.
The temple houses national Important Cultural Properties, including standing statues of Kannon and Bishamonten deities within its sacred halls.
Visitors can access the temple grounds from JR Takatsuki Station, with the main hall opening three times annually on January 3rd and second Sundays of May and November.
The temple maintains texts written by Christian daimyo Ukon Takayama, which are designated as Takatsuki City Tangible Cultural Property.
