The Tomb of Tamagusuku Chōkun is a stone structure from the late 17th or early 18th century located near Maeda Tunnel in Urasoe, Okinawa. It houses a ceremonial funerary urn called a zushigame and forms part of the Urasoe City Historical Site complex.

History

The tomb dates from the late 17th or early 18th century and holds the remains of someone who served as dance magistrate in 1718. This role connected artistic leadership with administrative duties during that period of local history.

Culture

The person buried here is remembered for five classical Ryukyuan dances that are still performed today and shape the region's dance heritage. Visitors can sense how this artistic legacy continues to influence local performing traditions.
