Ryūgashi Cavern, Natural limestone cave in Kita-ku, Japan
The Ryugashi Cavern extends over 1000 meters underground, featuring intricate limestone formations, underground waterfalls, and mineral-rich chambers throughout its passages.
The cave system formed approximately 250 million years ago through limestone erosion, gradually creating extensive networks of tunnels and galleries beneath the surface.
Local communities gather at the cavern during autumn festivals to participate in hiking events and celebrate the natural heritage of the Hamamatsu region.
The cave maintains a stable temperature throughout the year and offers guided tours at 11:00 and 14:00, with parking facilities for 500 cars and 25 buses.
The cavern houses specialized feeding stations where visitors can observe the daily routines of resident bat colonies during scheduled viewing times.
