Kochi Athletic Recreation Park, sports park in Kōchi, Japan
Kochi Athletic Recreation Park is a sports facility in Kōchi with an athletics stadium, baseball fields, tennis courts, and areas for shooting and archery. The facility also includes a cross-country running track, children's playground, and gym, all set in green surroundings near the Washio mountain range.
The stadium began hosting major competitions from 2000 onward and is certified to international standards by the IAAF and JAAF. In March 2025, the facility was upgraded with new LED floodlights to improve lighting conditions and better meet the requirements for hosting large events.
The park serves as a gathering place for the community, where people come together to play sports and spend time outdoors. Local clubs, schools, and residents see it as a space for active living and social connection, with events and competitions bringing neighbors together throughout the year.
The park is easy to reach by local transport and has parking lots nearby for car visitors. The paths and grounds are well-maintained and easy to explore on foot, especially in early morning or late afternoon hours.
The new lighting system features a smart control called Wi-CONNECTY that allows staff to adjust brightness using a tablet. This enables flexible adjustments depending on the type of event, from running competitions to soccer matches.
