Shizuoka Convention & Arts Center, Cultural performance complex in Suruga-ku, Japan.

Shizuoka Convention & Arts Center is a modern cultural building in Suruga-ku housing multiple performance spaces with functional design. The complex features a concert hall equipped with advanced acoustic technology and a theater space with complete technical infrastructure for stage productions.

Before construction, excavations from April 1994 to May 1995 on the site of the Kurekane-kita ruins uncovered Yayoi- to Kofun-period paddy fields and a straight road about 9 m wide, taken to be the ancient Tokaido. The center, designed by architect Arata Isozaki, opened on 13 March 1999. In 2004 slate cladding began falling from the facade; after 40 falls in five years, repairs using a mesh-mounted raised panel method were completed in December 2014 at a cost of 818 million yen.

The nickname "Gran Ship" comes from the building's ship-like shape, designed by architect Arata Isozaki. The Shizuoka Performing Arts Center (SPAC), led by artistic director Satoshi Miyagi, is based in the Shizuoka Arts Theatre here. The prefectural library keeps a corner inside the building, and Shizuoka's coming-of-age ceremony is held in the main hall.

The nearest station is Higashi-Shizuoka on the JR Tokaido Line, right by the south exit; the building is a few steps away, though it gets crowded during events. The main hall seats several thousand people and also hosts Shizuoka City's coming-of-age ceremony. The site occupies the former Magarikane-Kita archaeological site, where Yayoi to Kofun-period paddy fields and a roughly 9-metre-wide road, likely the ancient Tokaido, were excavated before construction.
