Konohana Arena, Sports arena in Suruga-ku, Japan
Konohana Arena is an indoor sports venue in Suruga-ku, Shizuoka Prefecture, with seating for around 3,300 spectators. It has several courts and training areas, making it suited for both competition events and regular team practice sessions.
The arena opened in May 2015 as part of the Kusanagi Sports Complex in Shizuoka Prefecture. It added an indoor facility to a complex that already had outdoor sports grounds on the same site.
The arena draws volleyball and basketball fans from across the Shizuoka region, who gather here to watch local clubs and national league matches. The energy in the stands during big games gives the place a strong sense of local pride.
The closest station is Ken Sogo Undojo on the Shizuoka Railway, from which the venue is about a 10-minute walk. Signs along the route from the station make it easy to find even on your first visit.
The name Konohana comes from Konohanasakuya-hime, a goddess in Japanese mythology associated with Mount Fuji, which can be seen from the Shizuoka area on clear days. This gives the venue a subtle connection to one of the most recognizable natural landmarks in Japan.
