八菅山いこいの森, Mountain forest park in Aikawa, Japan
Hakusugiyama Ikoi no Mori is a forest park in Aikawa where hiking trails wind through ancient cedar groves and bamboo areas, with 28 exercise stations positioned throughout the grounds for visitors to use.
The park was created for Aikawa Town's 30th anniversary celebration to preserve the natural forest environment and provide a recreational space for visitors and residents.
The Yasuge Shrine complex sits within the forest with its traditional stone steps and centuries-old cedar trees that mark out a space of spiritual importance to locals.
The park offers free parking and is open from 9 AM to 5 PM, with reduced hours during winter months. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear since trails can be muddy and steep in sections.
A small nature museum on the grounds displays seasonal photographs of local birds, insects, and plants that change with each season. The collection helps visitors identify the wildlife they encounter while walking the trails.
