甲塚古墳, Ancient burial mound in Iwaki, Japan

The Kabutsuka Kofun rises 8.2 meters above the surrounding farmland with a distinctive scallop-shaped design at its peak.

Built during the 6th century, this circular burial mound measures 37 meters in diameter and received national historic site designation in 1923.

The tomb represents the burial practices of Japanese aristocrats during the Kofun period, featuring specific architectural elements of that era.

Visitors can reach the site by taking a bus from JR Iwaki Station to Okuninushi Shrine stop, with dedicated parking spaces available for cars.
