Albert Taylor House, Historic residence in Gyonam-dong, Seoul, South Korea.

The Albert Taylor House is a two-story red-brick residence built around 1923 with restored rooms that display architectural features from that colonial period. The rooms preserve their original furnishings and show how people lived at that time.

An American mining engineer built this house in 1923 and reported on Korea's independence movement. Japanese authorities expelled him from the country in 1942.

The house reveals how foreign residents and Korean independence activists connected and collaborated during this period. Visitors can see personal belongings that show these relationships.

The building sits on a hill next to Gyeongbokgung Palace and is easy to find. Visitors should expect stairs since the house is on elevated ground and rooms are on different levels.

The homeowner discovered copies of the Korean Declaration of Independence hidden in his newborn son's hospital bed. He then published these important documents internationally.
