Sejong Center

Sejong Center is a performing arts facility in Jongno District with multiple performance spaces: the Grand Theater, M Theater, and Chamber Hall, plus two museums and exhibition galleries. These venues offer over 3,000 seats combined and host programs ranging from classical concerts to experimental theater productions.

The center was established in 1978, succeeding the Citizens Hall which burned down in 1972. This new facility marked an important turning point in Seoul's cultural development following the loss of that significant gathering place.

The center is home to the Seoul Metropolitan Traditional Music Orchestra and Seoul Metropolitan Ballet, presenting both Korean classical and contemporary performances. You can experience traditional Korean music alongside modern pieces here, seeing how these different styles share the same stages.
