Deosai National Park

The national park encompasses 3,000 square kilometers of high-altitude terrain at 4,114 meters, featuring expansive grasslands, lakes, and mountain ranges in Gilgit-Baltistan territory.

The Pakistani government established this protected area in 1993 to safeguard the endangered Himalayan brown bear population and preserve the natural ecosystem.

The Persian-derived name translates to 'Land of Giants', reflecting the local Balti people's perception of the vast plateau's grandeur through generations.

Access to the park remains restricted to summer months between June and September, when temperatures permit comfortable exploration and wildlife observation activities.

The park contains the second-highest plateau worldwide, where wildflowers carpet the landscape during summer while snow leopards roam the surrounding peaks.
