Pomnik Harcerzy na Malcie w Poznaniu, Scout memorial at Malta Lake, Poznań, Poland.
The Pomnik Harcerzy na Malcie w Poznaniu is a granite monument with inscribed tablets bearing the names of 77 fallen scouts. It stands in the eastern part of Scout Meadow at Malta Lake and is easily accessible via the recreational paths surrounding the lake.
The original monument was unveiled in 1937 to mark 25 years of scouting in Greater Poland. German forces destroyed it in 1940, and the current monument was later rebuilt on the same site.
The memorial honors scouts from Greater Poland who died fighting for independence during the early years of the Polish state. It reflects how deeply the scouting movement was woven into the region's struggle for freedom and self-determination.
The memorial sits along well-maintained paths at Malta Lake and can be reached on foot or by bicycle. Information panels on site explain the history, and the area is accessible for visitors of varying mobility levels.
The current monument was designed by architect Klemens Mikuła and features a symbolic scout campfire at its peak. This distinctive detail sets it apart from the 1937 original design.
