Kopiec Wolności

The Kopiec Wolności is an impressive earthen mound near Lake Malta that opens to the public on important occasions. From its summit, visitors can view across the lake toward the eastern sections of the city.

Construction of this monument began in 1919 to honor Poland's independence and the victory of the Greater Poland Uprising. The project marked an important sign of national renewal after a long period of division.

The mound was built through the participation of Poznań residents who voluntarily transported soil, showing their connection to the place. This community effort reflects how meaningful the monument remains to local people.
