Park Railway Maltanka, Children's railway line in the Malta district, Poznań, Poland.
The Park Railway Maltanka is a narrow gauge children's railway spanning approximately 2.4 miles (3.85 kilometers) along the northern shore of Lake Malta, connecting Rondo Śródka with the New Zoo and transporting up to 150,000 passengers each year.
The railway originally opened on July 22, 1956, as a scouting project and was relocated to its current Malta route in 1972, making it one of Poland's enduring narrow gauge recreational lines.
Named after the Knights of Malta who historically owned land in the area, the railway represents a cherished local tradition and a source of childhood memories for generations of Poznań residents.
The railway operates seasonally from late spring through early autumn with scheduled rides on weekends and holidays, and tickets can be purchased at stations managed by MPK Poznań, costing around $3.50 (15 złoty) for adults.
The railway's rolling stock includes vintage steam locomotives from the 1920s and 1930s alongside modern passenger cars built as recently as 2010, creating a blend of historical and contemporary railway equipment.
