Tuapse, Commercial port in Krasnodar Krai, Russia
Tuapse is a port town on the Black Sea coast in Krasnodar Krai, set where the Tuapse River meets the water. The town spreads along the shore between wooded hills, with residential areas rising above the waterfront and industrial zones near the harbor.
The settlement grew in the mid-1800s on a site already used as a landing point for ships. During the 20th century, the town developed as a center for exporting petroleum and other goods from the surrounding region.
The port maintains strong maritime traditions, influencing local employment patterns with generations of families working in shipping, cargo handling, and vessel maintenance.
Visitors can orient themselves around the town center and public squares, where most shops and services are located. The waterfront area is partly accessible, though industrial facilities limit access to certain sections of the shore.
The port facilities include a specialized RN-Bunker tanker with 7,000-ton capacity, supplying fuel to vessels while meeting international maritime safety requirements.
