Bukit Batok Nature Park, Nature reserve and urban park in Hillview, Singapore
Bukit Batok Nature Park is a 36-hectare green space built on a former quarry site with water bodies and forested slopes. A network of walking trails connects these different areas throughout the park.
The site was originally a quarry until the National Parks Board transformed it into a public recreational space in 1988. This conversion reflects Singapore's shift in how land is used and managed.
A memorial within the park honors soldiers who died during World War II combat in Singapore. Visitors encounter this commemorative site while walking through the natural surroundings.
The park is accessible from three MRT stations, offering different entry points depending on where you are coming from. Parking facilities are available, including spaces for motorcycles and people with disabilities.
The cliffs of the former quarry are home to rare animal species such as the Straw-headed Bulbul and the Malayan Colugo. These creatures depend on the native fruit trees found throughout the site.
