Jurong Town Hall, Office building in Jurong East, Singapore
Jurong Town Hall is an office building in Jurong East, Singapore, made up of two connected blocks of different lengths arranged around a central clock tower. The complex also contains meeting rooms, a small theatre space, and shared areas used by trade associations and other organizations.
The building was constructed in the early 1970s to serve as the headquarters of the Jurong Town Corporation, the body responsible for planning Singapore's industrial zones. After the Corporation moved out in 2000, the building continued to be used by various organizations and was later protected as a national monument.
The building is seen as a symbol of Singapore's shift toward industrialization in the 1970s, and locals still associate it with that era of rapid change. Visitors approaching from the street can take in the original facade, which has kept much of its look from the time it was built.
The building sits on Jurong Town Hall Road and can be reached easily by public transport from Jurong East station. Since many areas inside are used by working organizations, visitors should expect limited access and plan accordingly.
Although the clock tower is one of the most visible parts of the building, it has never been open to the public and cannot be entered. It remains something visitors can see from outside but have never been able to explore up close.
