Jurong Entertainment Centre, Entertainment center in Jurong East, Singapore
Jurong Entertainment Centre was a four-story entertainment complex in Jurong East featuring a cinema, arcade gaming areas, retail shops, and numerous restaurants across approximately 10,000 square meters. The facility offered a wide range of recreational activities all housed under one roof.
The center opened its doors in September 1993 and operated for approximately 15 years before closing in October 2008. The site was subsequently redeveloped into the modern JCube complex.
The venue housed the Fuji Ice Palace, one of only two ice skating rinks in Singapore at that time, drawing people from across the city. The skating rink served as a popular spot for both beginners and experienced skaters.
The complex was centrally located in Jurong East near public transport stations and major roads, making it easily accessible. This central location made it convenient for visitors traveling from different parts of Singapore.
CapitaMall Trust acquired the property in 2005 with plans to build Singapore's first Olympic-size ice skating rink. This ambitious vision ultimately led to the creation of an entirely new development complex rather than a simple renovation.
