Singapore Discovery Centre, Educational museum in Southwest Singapore.
The Singapore Discovery Centre is a museum in the southwest with approximately 10,000 square meters of exhibition space featuring interactive displays and multimedia presentations. The building sits beside a man-made lake and includes displays of military equipment from different periods.
The centre opened in 1996 near the SAFTI Military Institute, developing from a proposal in 1992 for a technology heritage exhibition. The project grew into a larger museum dedicated to presenting Singapore's development and achievements.
The galleries display how Singapore developed from its earliest days through independence, featuring personal stories and artifacts that show how people lived and worked in different times. Visitors see how the nation's identity took shape through these everyday experiences.
The centre is open from Tuesday through Sunday in a quiet area with good walking paths around the grounds. There are several sections to explore, so allow enough time to see everything at a comfortable pace.
The centre houses an XD Theatre offering special 5D motion experiences that make watching more immersive. There are also escape rooms and laser tag areas equipped with projection mapping technology.
