Bukit Batok Town Park, Public park in Guilin, Singapore
Bukit Batok Town Park is a recreational area in western Singapore featuring a lake surrounded by dramatic granite cliffs across more than 40 hectares. The steep rock faces rise directly from the water, creating a natural landscape that feels quite different from typical urban parks in the region.
The site operated as a granite quarry during the 1950s before extraction stopped. In 1984, the abandoned pit was transformed into a public park after water naturally accumulated in the excavation.
The name Little Guilin comes from how the rocky landscape here resembles the famous rock formations in Guilin, China. Walking around, you notice how locals and visitors alike are drawn to the water and cliffs, which have become the defining features people associate with this place.
The park is about a five-minute walk from Bukit Gombak MRT station, and there are no parking facilities on the grounds. This makes it easy to visit if you use public transport, though arriving by car means finding parking elsewhere nearby.
The lake draws Grey-headed Fish Eagles regularly, which hunt from the tall granite cliffs above. These birds of prey use the steep rock faces as perfect vantage points to spot fish in the water below.
