Watermelon monument, Osokorivka

The Watermelon Monument in Osokorivka is a concrete sculpture showing a split fruit and standing 4 meters (13 feet) tall. The sculpture sits in the center of the settlement and displays the characteristic seeds and red flesh.

The sculpture was erected in the early 21st century to honor the importance of melon cultivation for the Kherson region. It appeared at a time when communities emphasized their agricultural roots.

The sculpture reminds visitors that watermelons have grown here for generations and remain part of local identity. Families from the area often meet near the monument, especially during the summer harvest season.

The monument stands freely accessible in the middle of the settlement and is easy to reach on foot. Visitors can combine their stop with a walk to nearby markets where fresh produce from the region is sold.
