The angular layers of rock at Worbarrow Tout slope steeply, forming a pointed peninsula at the eastern end of Worbarrow Bay.
The promontory separated from Gad Cliff through millennia of sea erosion, transforming from a connected landmass into its current isolated formation.
Scientists and geologists study the Purbeck lagoonal limestones at Worbarrow Tout to examine preserved dinosaur footprints and marine fossils.
Visitors can reach Worbarrow Tout by walking 1.4 kilometers from Tyneham car park, accessible only when Lulworth Ranges permit public entry.
The rocks at Worbarrow Tout contain 147-million-year-old Purbeck Beds and 150-million-year-old Portland limestones, revealing ancient geological processes.
