Centre City Tower, Modern office tower in central Birmingham, England.
Centre City Tower is a commercial office building in central Birmingham with 21 floors rising approximately 76 meters. The structure combines a main tower element with a separate podium base, housing multiple office spaces managed as flexible working environments.
The building was designed by Richard Seifert and Partners and completed in 1975 as a commercial development with an integrated theatre space. The theatre portion was eventually converted to offices around the 1990s as needs changed.
The building displays the Brutalist style typical of 1970s design, with raw concrete surfaces and strong angular shapes that dominate its appearance from street level.
The building sits next to Birmingham New Street station, making it easy to reach by public transport or on foot from surrounding areas. Different office sections have separate entrances from both the podium and tower levels.
The tower has an unusual layout where its first floor aligns with the seventh floor level of nearby buildings, creating a striking visual effect from ground level. This arrangement results from the elevated podium that lifts the entire structure above the street.
