Great American Tower at Queen City Square, Postmodern skyscraper in downtown Cincinnati, United States
The Great American Tower at Queen City Square is a postmodern office building in downtown Cincinnati, rising about 665 feet (203 m) across 41 floors. The tower is topped by a glass and metal crown that sets it apart from the other buildings around it.
The tower opened in 2011, ending a record that had been held by another downtown building since the 1930s. Construction took around three years and changed the look of the Cincinnati skyline for the first time in decades.
The crown at the top of the tower is shaped like a tiara, a direct nod to Cincinnati's old nickname, the Queen City. That nickname dates back to the 1800s, when the city was one of the most prominent urban centers in the Midwest.
The building sits in the heart of downtown Cincinnati, within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and other points of interest. Parking options are available nearby, and the tower connects directly to the surrounding street network.
The tower received LEED certification for sustainable construction, which was uncommon for a large office building of this size at the time it was completed. This made it one of the first major downtown towers in the region to meet those green building standards.
