Allamuchy Freight House, Goods station in Allamuchy Township, United States.
The Allamuchy Freight House is a railroad building located along the former Lehigh and Hudson River Railway route in Warren County. The structure represents a surviving example of cargo handling stations from that era and is currently being restored by the New Jersey Midland Railroad Historical Society.
The building was constructed in 1906 to handle growing cargo demands along the railway line. It remains the only surviving structure of its type from the original transportation route through the area.
This facility was once a vital hub for moving goods through the region and shaped how locals viewed their town as a trading center. People relied on it to send and receive merchandise, making it central to the economic life of the community.
The building sits north of the County Route 612 intersection at Alphano Road. Access may be limited since restoration work is ongoing and the public might not have free entry to the site.
The facility earned recognition as an Official Project of Save America's Treasures, securing support for its restoration efforts. This designation makes it a place of national importance for preserving railroad heritage.
