Allamuchy Mountain State Park

Allamuchy Mountain State Park is a nature reserve in New Jersey with mixed oak and hardwood forests alongside wetland areas. A network of trails throughout the property offers routes for hiking, biking, and horseback riding among other activities.

The land was home to the Rutherfurd-Stuyvesant Estate from the 18th century before becoming a state park in the 1970s. This transition helped protect the land and its heritage from development.

Waterloo Village within the park displays buildings and structures from Lenape times and the 19th century, spanning roughly 400 years of settlement. Visitors walk through old houses and can learn how communities lived and worked in this place over time.

The property has multiple entrances and parking areas at different locations, making it easy to access various sections and activities. It is helpful to check beforehand which activities are available on specific days and what equipment or conditions to expect.

The Musconetcong River flows through the property and is regularly stocked with trout, offering fishing opportunities year-round. This waterway draws anglers who want to fish in quieter sections and pools throughout their visit.
