Emigrant Springs State Heritage Area, State heritage area and park near Pendleton, Oregon, United States.
Emigrant Springs State Heritage Area is a state park set in a mature forest on a ridge of the Blue Mountains, along Interstate 84 in eastern Oregon. The park has tent camping areas, log cabin lodging, a section for visitors with horses, and an interpretive center.
In the 1800s, the springs here were one of the key stopping points for settlers crossing the Blue Mountains on the Oregon Trail. The site offered water and rest at a point in the journey where both were hard to find.
The interpretive center displays objects and demonstrations that bring 19th-century pioneer life into focus. On certain days of the year, volunteers carry out craft techniques and daily tasks from that period.
The park is open year-round and offers both simple tent spots and log cabin lodging. Visitors arriving with horses should check in advance that the equestrian area is available.
The springs here were already in use long before the first wagon trains arrived, drawing travelers and animals to this ridge for centuries. The water still flows today, so visitors can see the same source that once kept so many travelers going.
