German-English Academy Building, Educational building in Milwaukee, United States.
The German-English Academy Building features characteristic elements of Romanesque Revival style with arched windows, detailed brickwork, and two distinct wings connected by an entrance section.
Built in 1891 for Milwaukee's German immigrant community, the structure initially served as a bilingual educational institution before becoming part of the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1933.
The academy established Milwaukee's first kindergarten in 1873 and integrated German educational principles, including physical education, singing, drawing, and domestic science classes.
Located in central Milwaukee with easy access to public transportation, the building now functions as a technology center leased to Direct Supply since 2012.
The south wing contains a neo-Gothic pavilion with three arched windows, while the north wing features a wide dormer covered by a hip roof.
